SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Since we are not yet publishing Mirth & Reverence in the traditional, ink-and-paper sense, our submission guidelines are fairly broad. ARTICLES, STORIES AND OTHER TEXT SUBMISSIONS We will rarely publish articles longer than 5,000 words, but we will consider well-written pieces up to 10,000 words. Electronic submissions are preferred and can be emailed to editor@MirthAndReverence.com. If at all possible, please submit electronic submissions in either Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (rtf). Please include any available photographs or other images that can be published with the submitted article. Hard copy manuscripts can be mailed to the following address and should include a SASE. LLC Submissions will be acknowledged but will not be returned. PHOTOS, ART AND OTHER GRAPHIC SUBMISSIONS Each issue of Mirth & Reverence will feature the works of one artist along with (preferrably) the artist's responses to our interview questionnaire. Any artist working in any visual medium will be considered: painting, sculpture, photography, computer graphics, fabric, pastels .... To be considered for our featured artist, please send at least seven images of your work in jpeg format to design@MirthAndReverence.com. These need not be hi-res images. If your work is selected for inclusion, 7-12 hi-res images will be required before the submission deadline. Hi-res images should be submitted in High or Maximum quality jpeg files of at least 300 dpi/ppi and 1500 x 2100 pixels. In addition to our featured artists' works, we will consider photographic and graphic arts submissions for use throughout the magazine. Again, hi-res images should be submitted in "high" or "maximum" quality jpeg files of at least 300 dpi/ppi and 1500 x 2100 pixels. Photos can also be submitted via CD/DVD to Stone Media,
LLC SUBMISSIONS DEADLINES Mirth & Reverence Submission deadlines are October 10 for the Fall issue, January 10 for the Winter issue, April 9 for the Spring issue and July 10 for the Summer issue. COMPENSATION Since we are not yet able to provide monetary compensation, we offer each contributor a 1/4-page ad in Mirth & Reverence. We certainly hope to begin compensating contributors at some point. CONTENT Content guidlelines apply to all submissions, textual and graphic. AirThis section includes essays on various scholarly and philosophical topics: the power of mind and thought, communication and language, perception, knowledge, asceticism. Also, book and film reviews will be included here. FireArticles about energy, focusing on renewable resources: wind, solar, biomass, fuel cells, etc. Also, any type of creative pieces: art, poetry, fiction, photography and music reviews. WaterArticles about physical and emotional health: herbal medicinals, accupuncture, Ayurveda, homeopathy, Tai Chi, personal improvement, etc. Also, love stories and articles about water quality and aquatic ecology. EarthArticles about our relationship to Earth: land conservation, organic gardening, sustainable agriculture, resource management, environmental restoration. Also, articles relating practical knowledge: food and cooking, how-tos ... and anything to do with manifestation in the physical realm. Ether (Spirit)Articles about illumination, divinity, wisdom (as opposed to "knowledge" under Air), God and Goddess, synchronicity, collective unconscious, Gods, myths, archetypes, ritual, etc. |
